Since my parents live in Germany, we used their house as a home base while we were in Europe. We had several days where we stayed at their house and did things in the local area or took short day trips. One of my favorite things about visiting Germany is the food, and we made sure to eat my favorite schnitzel, cordon bleu, and lot of bratwurst (and beer) during our time there.
In addition to our short local/day trips, we took a whirlwind 36 hour trip to Colmar, France where we met our dear friends Patrick and Kim and their kids. We know Patrick and Kim from Tacoma and they currently live in Geneva, Switzerland. We couldn't pass up an opportunity to see them, but with a combined group of five kids ages 6 and under, we didn't get much sightseeing done. That being said, Colmar is an adorable little town (nicknamed "Little Venice") and we did get a chance to wander around, eat a great meal, play at a playground, and spend some fun time together.
