Mathias is 11 months old!

Our sweet, fun little boy is 11 months old, and it is hard to believe that he will soon be a year old!  He is just a light in our lives, every day.  We love him to bits and pieces, even when it seems like his sole purpose in life these days is to get into everything that we want him to stay out of.  :)  He loves to climb on top of everything, and in the last couple weeks has climbed up on his (small) table, Miriam's rocking chair, the deck and into the bathtub.  He never stops moving and is always speed crawling or cruising on furniture.  He loves to play with anything that Miriam is playing with, and he also loves to play with balls, roll cars around, and topple down towers and blocks.  Mathias is a huge food eater, and will eat pretty much anything we put in front of him.  His favorites include cheese, turkey, blueberries, corn, and avocado.  He's sleeping slightly better these days, in his crib most nights and napping in his bed during the day.  And he's such a happy guy - he's constantly smiling and laughing and showing us his "crinkle nose", which is a highlight of our day.  He puts his hands up high to play "How big is Mathias?", gives us wet/sloppy kisses on our cheeks, puts his hand up for high fives, waves "hi" and "bye", says "Mama", "baba" (bottle), and "mamamamamama" (more).

Not too many new photos since the last blog post a couple days ago, but here are some from the last several days:

"How big is Mathias?" "SOOOOOO BIG!!!"

Miriam got a bike! (And other fun pictures)

We've had a busy month; Miriam started preschool, we all were a bit sick at one point, I've been really busy at work, and we've had gorgeous weather so we've been enjoying as much time as possible outside!

Last weekend, we went to a free Maritime Festival in downtown Tacoma.  It was a beautiful day, and we went early enough that it wasn't crowded.  We walked around, got tours of some boats (and even took a boat tour around the Port of Tacoma), and Miriam even caught a fish!  (They had a small pool stocked with fish for kids to fish in.  I think everyone got to catch a fish, but she had a lot of fun and was excited that she caught a fish, especially because she saw me and Mario fish a lot in Minnesota, and neither of us caught anything!)  And one of the funniest parts of the day was how much Miriam enjoyed the shuttle (school bus) that took us from the parking garage to the festival.  She loves buses and boats, so it was a great day for her, since she got to ride on both.

This weekend, Miriam got a new bike with training wheels.  She's had a balance bike for a while, although she's outgrown it, and she has a tricycle that she loves and speeds around on.  She's also been out "riding" with the neighborhood kids (ranging in age from Miriam, who's the youngest, to an 8 year old), and has shown us she really enjoys riding.  Mario's already taught her how to brake by pushing backwards with her pedals, and she's ridden around collecting leaves in her basket.  (Her Teddy also gets rides in her bike basket, and she reports that he has "lots of fun" riding in the basket.)

And last, just a couple pictures of various other things we've done - spent some time in Seattle at the splash park at Seattle Center with Miriam's cousin, put together Miriam's new bike (notice Mario's two little helpers), got Mathias a "walker" that allows him to move around and still keeps him a bit out of trouble....because he's into everything these days.  ;)  He turns 11 months old next week, so I'll save an update about him for a different post.

He LOVES to knock down "towers" that I build...

Miriam and Aria have been getting together for "play dates" since they were 5 weeks old...look how big they are now!

Miriam got a haircut! (And you can see how she felt about it...)
