We dropped Katie off at the airport yesterday afternoon after a busy, fun-filled 10 day visit. We really enjoyed having her here, and it was great to have her meet Miriam and watch them play and spend time together! While she was here, we had a BBQ, went to dinner, went outlet mall shopping, tie-dyed clothes (mostly for Miriam, although 1 or 2 for myself and Katie as well), and went for walks. We also had picnics at the waterfront, took a ton of pictures, visited my school, went garage saling and got pedicures.
We had a ton of fun, and Katie got to see first-hand what life with a baby is like. She changed diapers, put Miriam to sleep, fed her, rocked her, and read to her. She invented "Auntie airlines", which Miriam loves. It basically involves "flying" Miriam around the room, slowly and close to the ground. Katie and Miriam also spent a lot of time in front of the mirror, talking and smiling at the "other" baby they saw. Katie and I got Miriam to giggle one day, but haven't been able to replicate it since. Katie also got to experience a "screamfest", as we call them, and saw several diaper explosions and the resulting outfit changes. ;) Katie picked out Miriam's outfits on most of the days, and put together some very cute combinations!
And last night, for the first time ever, Miriam slept through the night. She was very tired yesterday after her morning "screamfest", and slept most of the afternoon. She went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 6 am. Mario and I both woke up during the night expecting her to wake up anytime, but she had her first sleep through the night! She's growing and changing so quickly, it is amazing. She grabs things deliberately with her hands and even (almost!) put her own pacifier back in her mouth. She is close to rolling over and has a lot of head control, always swiveling her head to look at new things.
Katie took a lot of photos while she was here, and these below are all courtesy of Auntie Katie.
