Gosh, Miriam is such a funny age right now. She's so outgoing, and funny, and stubborn, and defiant, and dramatic and such a mix of all of those that she's just such an amazing character. We joke that Mario's karma is coming around, because I've heard that he was quite a stubborn little boy, so its only fair that he have a stubborn child! :) Miriam is talking a mile a minute these days - she knows most of her colors, can identify several letters of the alphabet (O is still her favorite though), is always telling us what she's doing ("running, walking, beeping (sleeping),"), calls for the cat ("Bewwa!!!") insistently to throw mice or give treats, is so proud of her self whenever she does anything on her own, especially new things, that she emphatically points to herself and says "Miri, own!". She can count to 10 (kind of..."1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!) and is even showing some 1:1 correspondence which is great! :) It makes her teacher mama proud. She loves to count so much that after she's been in a time out (we count for her in a time out), she stays in the time out so she can count and then excuse herself, rather than just be done when we are finished counting. She's pretty funny.
We've been (somewhat) having nicer weather these days and Miriam loves to spend time outside. She plays T-ball in the yard, waters her plants and our plants, rides her bike around the driveway, stomps in puddles, helps Mario move dirt, picks flowers (dandelions), and loves to be on her swing. She enthusiastically responds whenever we ask if she wants to go outside, especially if she can put on her boots and stomp in puddles, as you'll see below. She loves to ride her bike but especially, she loves to pretend to fall over on her bike, all the while exclaiming "OH NO, OH NO, OH NO!!!" until she sets her bike gently on the ground and sits on it.
Here are some pictures from recent weeks. I've been trying to get a good picture of Miriam first thing in the morning, when she lays on her floor and cuddles with Bella, but they always move before I can snap a good photo. Maybe on the next blog I'll have one for you, but for now, here are some other photos:
